Pre-Dance

This class is for 3-5 year old students. It will include approximately 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap. We may also include songs, games and tumbling as the instructor feels is appropriate. This class is considered a fun introduction to dance for the preschool age child. They will perform 1 dance for our Christmas Outreach and 1 dance for our Spring Dance Concert.

 

Dance 1

This class is for the 6-8 year old beginning dance student. It will include 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap instruction. Students will enjoy a fun class environment while beginning to learn dance technique and classroom etiquette. They will perform 1 dance for our Christmas Outreach and 1 dance for our Spring Dance Concert.

Ballet 1

Beginners to Advanced Beginners ages 8-11. This class meets twice a week and begins a more serious study of ballet. This class will perform a dance for our Christmas Outreach and another for the Spring Dance Concert. (For students desiring a once a week class, teacher may require additional private lessons to be scheduled in order to perform).

 

Ballet 2

Advanced Beginner to Lower Intermediate ballet class for ages 10-adult. This class is for students with a minimum of one year training in a twice a week ballet class. Teacher approval and twice a week attendance are required for this level. They will perform a dance for our Christmas Outreach and another for the Spring Dance Concert. (For students at this level desiring a once a week class, they should take Ballet 1, or one of the Adult Ballet classes instead of Ballet 2).

Ballet 3

Intermediate ballet class for ages 11-adult. This class is for students with a minimum of two years training in a twice a week ballet class. Teacher approval and twice a week attendance are required for this level. Some students will gradually be introduced to pointe work as they progress. They will perform a dance for our Christmas Outreach and another for the Spring Dance Concert. (For students at this level desiring a once a week class, they should take one of the Adult Ballet classes instead of Ballet 3).

 

Ballet 4

Upper Intermediate to Advanced ballet for students ages 12-adult. Students should have a minimum of 3 years of twice a week (or more) ballet classes. Teacher approval is required for this level. Pointe is included at this level. They will perform a ballet dance for our Christmas Outreach and another for the Spring Dance Concert. (For students at this level desiring a once a week class, they should take one of the Adult Ballet classes instead of Ballet 4).

Adult Ballet

This class is recommended for the teen and adult beginner to intermediate ballet dancer. The minimum age is 12 years old. (For students desiring a once a week class, teacher may require additional private lessons to be scheduled in order to perform). This class will learn 2 dances, one in the Fall Semester and another in the Spring Semester. Performing at our Christmas Outreach and Spring Dance Concert is encouraged but not mandatory.

Tap 1

Beginners to Advanced Beginners age 8-adult. We will start learning (or reviewing) basic tap steps then will quickly move into tap combinations. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Tap 2

Advanced Beginner to Intermediate age 10-adult. We will learn more advanced tap steps and faster, more complex rhythm patterns, then quickly move into tap combinations. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Tap 3

Intermediate to Advanced tap class for ages 11-adult. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Adult Tap

This class is recommended for the teen and adult beginner to intermediate tap dancer. We will start learning (or reviewing) basic tap steps then will quickly move into tap combinations. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Guys Stomp

Beginner to Intermediate all guys tap class with a stomp style for ages 6-12. We will start learning (or reviewing) basic tap steps then will quickly move into tap combinations. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Jazz 1/Lyrical 1

Beginner to Advanced Beginner combination jazz/lyrical class. The class is for ages 8-adult. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Jazz 2

Advanced Beginner to Intermediate jazz class with a hip-hop flavor. This class is for ages 10-adult. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Jazz 3

Intermediate to Advanced jazz class with a hip-hop flavor. This class is for ages 11-adult. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Adult Jazz

Beginner to Intermediate jazz class with a hip-hop flavor for teens and adults (minimum age is 12). Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Lyrical 1/Jazz 1

Beginner to Advanced Beginner combination lyrical/jazz class for ages 8-adult. Lyrical dance takes elements from both ballet and jazz for a more interpretive and expressive form of dance. Ballet class is strongly encouraged for Lyrical 1 students but not required at this level. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Lyrical 2

Advanced Beginner to Intermediate lyrical jazz class for ages 10-adult who have taken at least one year of twice a week ballet and at least one year of Lyrical (or Ballet 3-4 students with no lyrical training). Lyrical dance takes elements from both ballet and jazz for a more interpretive and expressive form of dance. For this level, it is required that you are currently enrolled in a ballet class that meets at least once a week (not the same night as your Lyrical class). Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Lyrical 3

Intermediate to Advanced lyrical jazz class for ages 12-adult. Students in Lyrical 3 must be at a Ballet 3-4 level and must have completed at least one year of Lyrical dance. For this level, it is required that you are currently enrolled in a ballet class that meets at least once a week (not the same night as your Lyrical class). Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Adult Lyrical

Beginner to Intermediate lyrical jazz class for ages 12-adult. Ballet class is strongly encouraged for Adult Lyrical students but not required. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Modern 1-2

Modern dance for students at a Ballet 3-4 level for ages 10-adult. Theatrical dance that is not ballet, though loosely based on ballet. It celebrates the joy and revels in the truth of physical expression. Modern dance is often about experimentation and discovering new ways of using movement.

 

Baton 1

Beginner to Advanced Beginner baton twirling for ages 7+. We will focus on a dance twirl style but will also learn some basic military style elements of baton. We may supplement this class with 1 or 2 competitions in the Spring Semester, which are usually in East Texas (not required). We may also prepare a parade routine for the 4th of July Parade. Students will learn 2 dances during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

Irish Dance

Beginner to Intermediate Irish Dance for ages 8+. Irish Dance is a type of folk dance that has been recently popularized by the world-famous “Riverdance” and “Lord of the Dance”. We will not be competing but rather using this fast and fun dance form in both a traditional and lyrical style of expression.

 

Tumbling for Dance

Tumbling/gymnastics floor skills class. Students will learn 2 routines during the year, to be performed for the Christmas Outreach and the Spring Dance Concert.

 

Worship Dance

This class is open to all levels of dancers age 11-adult. The class will focus on combining technique and worship; based in the dance genres of modern, ballet, and lyrical jazz. We will start off with a warm-up and then proceed to learning technique. The class finishes by learning repertoire material and exploring freedom in worship through dancing. Our goal is to teach dancers how to worship and worshipers how to dance.
